I was up about 6:15 this morning, and my blood sugar was 182 – it had started rising by itself from the 130s about an hour earlier.
I had a long train day coming, so breakfast was small but tasty, from the buffet in the hotel. (Actually it was in the izakaya, like a Japanese pub, attached to the hotel, which is used for breakfast in the mornings.)

Despite being higher than I’d like upon waking, my post-breakfast spike wasn’t bad at all today: it got to about 222, then started gliding back down.
I rode up the Uetsu Main Line from Sakata, through northern Yamagata Prefecture, and into Akita Prefecture.
I reached Akita Station, settled up my train ticket fare, and got on a train on the Ōu Main Line to Ōmagari Station. There I transferred to a third train, on the Tazawako Line.
I wasn’t on that line long, a mere 20 minutes. I got off at Kakunodate Station, and my BG was by now steady around 160.

The rest of the day was spent on the adorable and mountainous Akita-Nairiku Railway, but that will be another tale for another time. As for the coastal trains today, a morning of comparatively fine BGs on some more-than-fine train lines.
