BG Report from Ōdate, Japan
Akita dogs rule this city, but there's more to it • Ōdate

Pretty good blood sugars today as I wandered around the city of Ōdate in northern Japan.
Actually, the morning began oddly: at 3:30 am I was awoken by my CGM beeping about a low blow sugar. In my case, that means 80, so I had some glucose and went back to sleep.
Later at 7:30, I was 153, and I got up for the hotel’s breakfast buffet. Not a bad one, for the few customers there today.

Breakfast
A bit later I went outside to explore. I visited the Akita Dog Visitor Center, where I saw a few displays about the famous dogs, and saw a couple of live ones. The staff were playing with them and walking them around.
Around here, my BG was experiencing its regular morning spike, so I was in the mid 200s. Soon it began going back down though. All in all, it was over 200 for about 90 minutes.

Lunch
By the time I found a great little restaurant with a hamburger patty set meal, I was a mere 88. And I’d been walking and wasn’t done, so I ate most of the lunch before finally taking my Humalog and hitting the streets again.
It went well. I rode a bus out to the edge of town to see the world’s largest free-standing wooden dome, and took the bus back to my hotel, where it was time for an afternoon snack. Donut and coffee, and my BG was a respectable 166.

My afternoon snack in the hotel room, mm-mmm
I took a shot for that and later, at dinner, was 144. Dinner was, like breakfast, free in the hotel: ramen and rice and water. Not too tough, and I made it through with the usual Humalog shot.
All in all, an entirely acceptable day of blood glucose levels in Ōdate. Must have been the power of the kind dogs everywhere.
