A pretty excellent day of blood sugars during my ride on the 4.5-hour Kuroshio train, with its panda decorations, from Shin-Osaka to Shingu, Japan.

Just after 8:00 am, I woke up at 127, so the day started well. I had breakfast and went to Shin-Osaka station to get Kuroshio tickets and wait for the journey to start.

Waiting for the Kuroshio train

The train left at 12:13 pm (right on time). A few minutes later it was lunch time; BG was now 183. I had my rice and vegetables (and chocolate) in my seat, and admired the scenery drifting by.

Later, before afternoon snack time, I checked and was 138. I had a bit of insulin for some more chocolate pieces and a sort of accidentally-purchased cafe au lait (with sugar).

Didn’t make me high though – when I got to Shingu, checked into the Koyo Hotel, and checked a bit later before dinner, I was 54. Oops. Had some juice, then got dinner from a nearby Lawson convenience store and ate in the room.

Last check before bed: 101 at 11:30 pm. A great diabetes day on the panda train, to go with the sweeping ocean views and the dense forested route. Can’t ask for anything else.
